HughesNet Terms & Conditions

General Terms:
HughesNet® Broadband by Satellite service is available anywhere in the contiguous U.S. with an unobstructed view of the southern sky. It is not available in Alaska & Hawaii. HughesNet Service usage is subject to the Fair Access Policy. Actual speeds may vary based on the amount of traffic on the Internet, the amount content on a particular Website, as well as by the overall performance and configuration of your computer. Stated speeds and uninterrupted use of service are not guaranteed. During peak hours actual speeds will likely be lower than speed indicated.

Professional installation of HughesNet equipment is required by the FCC. Monthly service fees apply. Taxes are not included.

Service Commitment:
All HughesNet Service Plans require a minimum service commitment (24-months). If you terminate service prior to the expiration of the commitment, you will owe and your credit or debit card will be charged the Termination Fees as described below.

Early Termination: Upfront Purchase
If you cancel your order before installation, you will not be charged.

If you cancel service within 30 days of activation:

Home, Pro, and ProPlus subscribers may return the modem and outdoor transmitter to Hughes® for a refund. Once this equipment has been received by Hughes, you will be refunded a total of $200. Hughes will provide instructions on how to de-install and return the equipment. Returned equipment must be in good condition. You will not receive a refund for installation charges or other fees. You are not required to return, and Hughes is not obligated to de-install, the antenna, mount, or any cables. If you elect to have the complete system or the antenna, mount and any cables professionally de-installed you will be responsible for all de-installation charges.

Elite and ElitePlus Internet subscribers may return the modem and outdoor transmitter to Hughes for a refund. Once this equipment has been received by Hughes, you will be refunded a total of $300. Hughes will provide instructions on how to de-install and return the equipment. Returned equipment must be in good condition. You will not receive a refund for installation charges or other fees. You are not required to return, and Hughes is not obligated, to de-install the antenna, mount, or any cables. If you elect to have the complete system or the antenna, mount and any cables professionally de-installed, you will be responsible for all de-installation charges.

If you cancel after 30 days from date of activation but before end of initial 24-month commitment:

Home, Pro, and ProPlus subscribers will be charged a $300 Service Termination Fee. HughesNet equipment may not be returned for a refund after 30 days.

Elite and ElitePlus Internet subscribers will be charged a $300 Service Termination Fee. HughesNet equipment may not be returned for a refund after 30 days.

Early Termination: 24-month Promotional Option
If you cancel your order before installation, you will not be charged.

If you cancel service within 30 days of activation:

Home, Pro, and ProPlus subscribers will be charged a $400 equipment and installation fee. If you return the modem and outdoor transmitter to Hughes within 60 days of your termination, you will receive a $200 refund for your HughesNet equipment. You will not receive a refund for installation charges or fees. Hughes will provide instructions on how to de-install and return the equipment. Returned equipment must be in good condition. You are not required to return, and Hughes is not obligated to de-install, the antenna, mount, or any cables. If you elect to have the complete system or the antenna, mount, and any cables professionally de-installed, you will be responsible for all de-installation charges.

Online Ordering:
YOU AGREE AND ACCEPT THAT HUGHES NETWORK SYSTEMS, LLC (HUGHES) IS AUTHORIZED TO USE YOUR CREDIT OR DEBIT CARD FOR THE PURPOSE OF: (1) CHARGING YOU FOR THE UP-FRONT FEES REQUIRED TO RECEIVE HUGHESNET, INCLUDING PAYMENT FOR EQUIPMENT AND INSTALLATION; (2) CREATING A HUGHES/HUGHESNET CUSTOMER ACCOUNT; (3) CHARGING YOU FOR YOUR MONTHLY SERVICE FEES AND ANY EQUIPMENT OR INSTALLATION FEES THAT MAY APPLY; AND (4) CHARGING ANY APPLICABLE EARLY TERMINATION FEES.

Home Networking:
Home networking equipment is not included with your HughesNet system. For network setup, support, and configuration, contact your network hardware manufacturer and/or operating system software developer (Hughes is not responsible for home network configuration or management).

Please note that all computers on a home network will be sharing a single connection. Simultaneous use of high-bandwidth applications by multiple users may result in degradation of download and surfing speeds, and are subject to the Fair Access Policy.
